The organisation and application of a waste minimisation program require suitable planning, organisation and engagement. The more important steps for the planning and the application of a waste minimisation program are:

STEP 1: Planning and Organisation In this step an effort to get the interest of the administration and the personnel of the company is made. Moreover, there is assigned a team which will be responsible for the application of the program and the objectives of the program are settled.

STEP 2: Preliminary Enterprise Audit In this step all the incoming and outcoming materials/products that enter to the production process is recorded and determined, the mass and energy balances are made, the total disposal cost is calculated and the possible applications of waste minimisation are determined.

STEP 3: Feasibility Study In this step a preliminary evaluation of each proposal is made, the proposed applications are evaluated with technical, economical and environmental criterias and the viable applications are selected

STEP 4: Application In this step the program application is design and the personnel is informed and trained

STEP 5: Program Monitoring and Evaluation Finally, there is developedand sustained a communication line with the suppliers and the achieved results are recorded.
