A typical production process in a paint industry consists of the following processes:
Synthesis: The Synthesis usually takes place in the laboratory. Once the type and the specifications of the raw materials are determined, the systhesis is made in industrial scale
Pigmets milling: It takes place in a mill for and it last until the pigments size is reduce to the required one.
Mixing: The resins, the pigments, the dispersing agents and the rest of the add-ons are mixed. After the first mixing the mixture is transfered to a mill for further milling or further mixing.
Filtration: When the colour acquires the desired composition, it is filtered in order to remove the pigments that have not been dissolved satisfactorily and then it is transferred in a funnel.
Filling: Through the funnel the colour it stored in barrels or tanks, then it is standardised and it is tranfered to the storehouse.
Equipment cleaning: The equipment is cleaned with water or with a solvent after each batch is finished.
It is important to mention reported that the main raw materials that are used in the production of paints are pigments, resins, solvents, dispersing agents and plasticisers. Each one of them gives to the final paint some of the required attributes.
