The avoidance of the pollution at the source (by avoiding its creation) minimises and in some cases eliminates the need for end of the Pipe Treatment. The consideration of measures of prevention is usually easier than the waste processing and disposal.
Moreover, there is the disadvantage that the treatment technologies shift the pollution from one mean to another (eg from water to soil through the disposal of mud) and for this reason they are considered to be inadequates. In addition, the strategy of preventing the pollution is not only environmentally effective but can have also other economic and legal profits, whereas it is safer for the public health.
In the present part of the project, the existing international tendecies for the application of clean technologies and the evaluation of the risks at industrial plants have been examined. The industrial sectors of interest are:
Food industry
Dyeing and finishing industry,
Metal processing industry,
Chemical industry.
The application area of the project are the prefectures of Central and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and the provinces of Haskovo, Kardjali, Smolian, Blagoevrad.
The collected information constituted the import material for a dynamic database which provides to the users the possibility of direct and easy access in all the selected thematic sectors. The database designed in a way that it can be accessed partially through the present web page and it can be used for tele-education.
This website is focused in the presentation of the guidelines which are followed, no matter the type of the industrial plant, in order to acquired the needed training for realising a waste minimisation project. Technical data and details that are connected to particular industrial sector can be found in the Specific Guidelines for the aforementioned types of industries.
Here you can see the complete Guidelines (only in greek).
