The aim of this project was:
The constitution of Greek-Bulgarian cross-border network of collaboration and transport of the know-how in the areas of waste minimisation and the risk assessment of industrial plants, which will constitute a permanent source of information
The development of a educational software on issues of pollution prevention and reduction of the produced toxic and dangerous waste
The promotion of the cross-border cooperation with the support of the educational and the researching institutes that participate in the creation of the network.
The present project was founded by the operational programme INTERREG IIIΑ/PHARE CBC Greece – Bulgaria 2000-2006.

The project work was applied in the prefectures of Central and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and the provinces of Haskovo, Kardjali, Smolian, Blagoevrad. The project presents particular interest for both Greek and Bulgarian side, since in the cross-border area exist a large number of various type of industries (dying and finishing industry, food industry, metal processing industry and chemical industry).

The greek institutions that cooperated in this project are:
The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki through the Transport Properties Laboratory of the Chemical Engineering Faculty, which contributed with its experience and knowledge to the effective management and completion of the project
The company Sigma Consultants EPE, which predominates in an open auction that was realised for the project.
